“Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of [baby’s name] the unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion.”
- Prayer of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen
They say you should pray this daily for nine months and name the child you pray for. I've been praying this daily since I was a kid, only learning to name the baby a few years ago. I've only named one child. They say you may or may not meet this child in real life - or that something heavenly will happen and you know it's from the baby you prayed for. We may or may not save a baby from abortion, but our prayers will always save souls.
On October 1, 2013, I know I met my baby. On this day, my childhood best friend texted me that she gave birth in the middle of the night. She sent me a picture of this cute little boy, who is to be my godson. "Hello, Ninang [Godmother in the Filipino language]. My name is Lucas." My best friend and her husband made it such a big deal to keep the name a secret all throughout her pregnancy, so this revelation early in the morning came with much excitement. As it sunk in, something more exciting came to mind. Not only was I going to be a godmother of my best friend's son, but his name is Lucas....the name of my spiritual baby that I named as I said the prayer of Archbishop Fulton Sheen. My heart is always filled with such joy when I think about this. Some might say it's coincidence, but I say it's Divine intervention. God reminded me that life is so precious and every effort made to pray for the unborn children and their mothers don't go wasted.
Please pray with me...for the children :)
